Experience
I love science... especially biology (although chemistry and physics are just as important!), and I want to share my passion with others. I studied biology at Trinity College, where my classes ranged from small-scale cell biology to ecology and botany, and of course a range of chemistry and math classes. I spent my summers (and most of my senior year) in an ecology research lab, where I worked on two projects and ultimately wrote a senior thesis. In addition, I spent a semester doing field research in South Africa's largest national park. After graduating, I took a couple of years off to teach English in South Korea. I ultimately want to be a high school biology teacher. In college, I tutored students one-on-one over the course of the semester, both of whom showed significant improvement in test scores. I know that not all students learn the same way, but I will start with sharing my personal study methods and tricks for remembering important information (there is a lot of memorizing, unfortunately). I can prepare practice tests or study problems, help students assemble study guides, and let students explain the key concepts to me at the end of the session. I used to find study groups helpful because talking about the topics with others and explaining in them in your own words are key to understanding the subject matter. It's important that we work together to find the best method for each student. Most importantly, I hope to instill confidence in students. I know science can be difficult at times, but with a little help I think we can master the topics at hand for an overall rewarding experience.

Hobbies
I love traveling, cooking and baking, hiking and exploring the natural world. I'm easy-going and I try to keep my tutoring lessons casual and as fun as possible.
