Experience

During my entire education experience, I have always been involved in educational activities. I tutored my classmates in high school and university levels. I talked to my teachers and asked them to share teaching experience. I joined the math aid after school when I was in grade 12, and welcomed new international students at the University of Toronto. I also worked as teaching assistant in my university. It was actually a very different taste and very rewarding experience. In 2012 and 2013, I taught five high school students in Central Technical High School in Canada, 15 hours each week. They were great experiences. By teaching them, I found that students were creative. With the same question, different students came up with different solutions, and these solutions still led them to the right answer. Besides experience from school, I developed a Microsoft Word learning program to teach the new immigrations at NPO, Catholic Cross-cultural Services, and I was also one of the trainers there. Through my experience as a tutor at Tutor Doctor, I have learned that everyone has different ways to learn, as a trainer and a tutor I must learn and adapt their study strategies and figure out the best way and plan to teach. There was a case where I compelled a student’s score in grade 12 calculus to improve and helped him get into university from a failing grade. I always take time to prepare well before tutoring any students of mine. • First year Calculus teaching assistant in University of Toronto • Tutored Mathematics for five high school students 2.5 hours each week.
